COVID-19 Resources and Assistance in Miami-Dade County

However, we have listed other resources related to COVID-19 for individuals and families below:

  • Axis South Florida- Axis South Florida has compiled the most comprehensive list of resources to help Miami-Dade and Broward residents weather the coronavirus crisis and emerge from it with stability and strength.

    • Visit axishelps.org/rent for rental and homeowner assistance resources today.

  • City of Miami Grocery Gift Card Program - Beginning on Tuesday, December 1st, the City of Miami will be distributing $250 Publix Grocery Gift Cards to City of Miami residents who have experienced hardship and food insecurity in 2020 due to COVID-19 (limited to one per household). The distribution is on a first come, first serve basis and while supplies last. Apply Here.

    • Program Requirements:

      MUST be a City of Miami Resident (proof of residency required in the form of a driver’s license or any other form of photo ID showing City address). Each address will be verified to ensure the address provided is within City limits. If you are unsure, you can check your address here

      MUST provide a signed application attesting to the fact that you have faced a financial hardship due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. (See available for download, here).  The City of Miami encourages you to have your application printed & signed prior to arrival at each site to reduce your wait time.  

      Limited to one card per household. Cards are issued on a first come first serve basis (while supplies last).

      NOTE: Applications that provide an address outside of City of Miami limits or provide non-valid forms of identification will not be accepted and cannot be processed.  If a household has already received a gift card, additional applications will not be processed. 

  • City of Miami Mortgage Assistance Program - Provides up to $6,000 (one-time) towards the past due mortgage payments (arrears) of qualifying households who:

    • earn 120% Area Median Income (AMI) or below

    • have experienced job loss or income reduction on or after March 1st due to COVID-19

    • submit a completed application package that includes photocopies of all required supporting documents listed on the application form. 

      Due to limited funds, applicants will be assisted on a first-come, first-ready, first served basis.

  • Miami-Dade County Hotel Helpline - On Friday, July 17, 2020, Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez announced the County, in partnership with the state of Florida, is adding 400 rooms to its hotel isolation program in an effort to protect multigenerational families from the spread of COVID-19.

    Residents may call 305.614.1716 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily.

  • Community Justice Project Updates & Resource Page - Provides up to date information on eviction moratoriums, unemployment assistance, and ongoing advocacy platforms.

  • Rent Assistance - List of private rental assistance agencies and non-profit/charity organizations in Miami-Dade County providing general assistance.

  • Miami-Dade Human Services - Provides utility assistance, scholarships, and child care assistance for families with children under the age of 18. 305.514.6000.

  • Legal Services of Greater Miami - Provides free legal representation to low-income households on a wide range of issues including eviction defense, appealing subsidized waiting list denials, Section 8 terminations, and appealing the termination of public benefits. 305.576.0080.
